Kiosken voor de Pastoor Joorenplein, Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands. Competition, Fourth place
The issue was redesign two existent small urban objects, a snacks kiosk and a cabine for a bike parking guard, and adding two new ones, a public toilette and a bus stop shelter. We undestood the competition as a way to rethink the degradated public domain in Dutch´s cities.
Every day when we are in the city we walk between many objects (lamps, Litter Receptacles benches, etc) without seeing them. Many of them are very awful or in bad condition, but they make our everyday landscape.
We created for this project a sculptorical group of abstract objects. Glass and light lines dematerialize the objects to enbody the space in-between which will make the inhabitant aware of the existence and relevance of the public domain in the everyday life.
